As a special collaboration in the autumn, Isl and Moving Company’s site-specific dance and art festival, Open for Dancing, opens September 20th and blends perfectly with the Busking @ Bowen’s Fall Series presented with BankNewport. Open for Dancing brings together choreographers, musicians, visual artists, community members and dancers of the Isl and Moving Company to create original dances for l andscapes throughout Aquidneck Isl and. The lead photo, from a previous Open for Dancing Performance at St. George’s School, is by Alex ander Nesbitt, a local photographer whose woodblock photos are available at his gallery in Newport and at our Pilot House.
Saturday September 23: free Dance and Jazz, on the waterfront! Noon: Isl and Moving Company #dance improvisations by their Phantom Limb ensemble, Rhode Isl and College (RIC) Dancers directed by Jessica Pearson, are at Bowens Wharf. Be sure to swing over to enjoy join Lois Vaughan Music near the #PilotHouse for an impromptu presentation 1-4pm as part of the Busking at Bowen’s Series Fall 2017. Be sure to circumnavigate the boutiques both on the Bowen’s and Bannister’s sides as they’ve rolled out new fall fashions.
Saturday evening the Sunset Ballroom Dance will be led by Sara Barker, at 5:30pm. You’re all invited to come dance! And finally on Sunday, September 24: Noon Dance improvisations by the Festival’s Phantom Limb ensemble, directed by Jessica Pearson.
