A Year of Reflection at Bowen’s Wharf

As we prepare to celebrate the holidays, it will certainly be different from years before. We are forever grateful for our community here in Newport and surrounding visitors who have supported us so many times throughout 2020. You are all the reason we’re here! From shutdowns to pauses, you’ve helped to support our unique boutiques, restaurants and galleries remain resilient and strong through the unimaginable. Whether it be through ordering take out or curbside pickup, to purchasing gift cards that can be used at a later date, to simply respecting the rules and masking up to help protect our beloved community – you’ve been there to help us all through it and we thank you. While we had big plans for 2020, with our annual Oyster and Seafood Festivals  and Cinco De Mayo falling on Taco Tuesday at Diego’s – we’re ready to ring in the new year of 2021 stronger than ever! While precautions and safety will still be at the forefront, we have high hopes for the new year. Meanwhile, let’s reflect on some of the happier moments of 2020!

The 50th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

Even through the pause, we were grateful to be able to host this year’s 50th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting! While we did postpone the event due to Saturday’s Nor’easter, the weather held out for us the following evening as we watched the lights illuminate the heart of the wharf. For those who didn’t attend in person, we live-streamed the event on our Facebook  and Instagram profiles where over 5,000 people tuned in from home! It was an incredibly heartwarming event that we were so happy to share with all of you! Santa even surprised us and came to visit to drop his mailbox off at the North Pole! Each year he makes an appearance by boat  and while he couldn’t stay for long this time, he brought much joy and cheer that nightUntil Christmas Eve, his mailbox will be there awaiting your letters. If you still have gifts to check off of your list, what better way than to stop into our merchants, grab a hot cup of cocoa, take a picture at the North Pole  and finish up your day with dinner at one of the incredible restaurants! Come down to visit Bowen’s Wharf to enjoy the winter wonderl and by the sea!

Small Business Saturday – Shopping local and supporting our local community

This year more than ever, our local businesses at Bowen’s Wharf needed help during the busiest time of the year. Our merchants provided safe and socially distant experiences, like private shopping events and online/call ahead pick-ups to allow people to enjoy and support with comfort and ease. All of our shops were open with various treats and sales from store-wide discounts to deals on gift cardsthere was something for everyone during one of the largest shopping events of the year!

Congratulations are in order!
This year, Bowen’s Wharf teamed up with Lite Rock 105 to host a contest where the winner would receive a $500 gift certificate to Bowen’s Wharf PLUS a complimentary one-night stay with our incredible neighbors, The Newport Harbor Hotel. Angela from Johnston was our honored guest and contest winner! She came down to the wharf last week for her personal shopping experience with on-air host Lite Rock 105’s Steve Donovan! Angela and Steve met by the anchor to start her wonderful afternoon of shopping where she was able to check off many on her gift list this year with visits to Soap & Water Newport, Anchor Toffee, Primavera Newport, Upper Deck Clothing, Sail Loft Clothing, and a delicious lunch at Diego’s! She can’t wait to come back and stay at The Newport Harbor Hotel  and of course, to visit us again at Bowen’s Wharf! Check out the full video on our Facebook Page!
