How does sustainability mesh with shopping, dining & events? Low impact option: Lose a few hours on the couch or in a hammock, rest your head, and let your mind w ander to Newport, Block Isl and, Bermuda. Primavera Newport has in store, and online, Cat Studio h and-embroidered pillows. Each one is 100% organic cotton.
Entertaining on the deck is all that much more cheerful with these conversation-starter glasses. With the return of the Newport Oyster Festival May 19-21 you can sample & sip a bevvy of curated cocktails & champagne from Moet & Ch andon, Ardbeg Whisky, Belvedere Vodka, Whaler’s Brewing, Coole Swan, and even try the new Bailey’s Alm ande under the festival tents. You’ll be greeted by 13 local oyster growers from all over the Ocean State and volunteers from The Nature Conservancy will be on h and to separate glass, recyclables, compostables and shell. In 2016 two tons of shell from this event went to their in-state reef rebuilding projects. As we like to say #EatMoreOysters (cause it’s good for us all) but there’s more than just shellfish at the festival & in the shops.
Special events and prizes from our sponsors and our locally-owned businesses (like this painting by Grace Windsor) will be awarded during Opening Night Party (May 19) and the Shucking Contest (Sunday May 21).
On the water: This week our water tour tenants sailed & motored boats back into our safe harbor. In Bermuda, the America’s Cup multihulls are winding up for the start of racing at the end of May, with Superyachts and J-Class boats as the icing on the cake. Vestas 11th Hour Racing team sailed out of Newport and they’ll be back for Volvo Ocean Race in 2018. Until then, we have six businesses on site who would love to help you get out and enjoy the water, for team building, bachelorettes or for fun. Call our Pilot House at 401-849-3478 or visit the Water Tour & Charter operators directly online. Escape to the waterfront, we’re here, and would love to see you!
