Oh What Fun: Thanksgiving Weekend on Bowen’s Wharf

All over Newport, businesses are getting ready for the holiday season. Whether it’s decorating windows, advertising sparkly outfits, or giving us tons of gift ideas, Newport really shines this time of year. On Bowen’s Wharf, we are getting ready for a flurry of activity and holiday cheer!

One of Newport’s most popular post-Thanksgiving events is the Holiday Illuminated Boat Parade in Newport Harbor. This year’s event will take place on November 28th and will start at 6:15 p.m. Participating boats will compete for the prize of best holiday decorations, awarded by the harbormaster and a panel of judges. The tradition began 15 years ago by Newport harbormaster Jake Farrell and Bowen’s Wharf is the perfect viewing spot to see the illuminated boats circle the harbor.

Following the Holiday Illuminated Boat Parade, on November 29, celebrate Small Business Saturday on Bowen’s Wharf! Many of our shops are featuring specials and discounts and we encourage you to shop local.

On November 29, Egg & Dart will host Chris Wyllie’s 9th Annual Ornament Party and Holiday Show from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Chris produces about 500 ornaments and the store is transformed into a winter wonderl and. It is the only opportunity for fans of Chris’ work to purchase pieces inexpensively (ornaments range from $15-40).

Also happening this weekend, Michael Hayes on the Wharf will be hosting two trunk shows that will feature luxury fur lines Linda Richards and Diana Rosh.
