Fall Travel Plans: Visitors from around the country will celebrate on Bowen’s Wharf

As the kids go back to school and the weather turns a bit cooler, it’s time to start thinking about Fall festivals and travel. It’s perhaps one of the best times to visit Newport. The days are still warm and the beautiful sunsets are hard to beat.

Two annual events are taking place on Bowen’s Wharf that we started planning months ago, while your summer was just beginning!

September 11 – 14, 2014: The 44th Annual Newport International Boat Show, which is one of the largest in-water boats in the country! It encompasses over a half mile of Newport’s waterfront, including Bowen’s Wharf. We showcase in-water basin and l and displays featuring Hinckley, Hunt, and other Down East-style boats. For more information and tickets, visit the NIBS website. (this event is owned and produced by Newport Exhibition Group)

October 18 & 19, 2014: The 24th Annual Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival, which has been named one of the “10 Fabulous Fall Festivals on the Coast,” by Coastal Living magazine! Honoring the “Harvest of the Sea,” the Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival offers fresh, local seafood. Fish tacos from Diego’s Restaurant, signature cocktails and cold New Engl and beer accompany continuous live music, and family fun, all beneath the Wharf’s colorful tents. Other neighboring restaurants and fisherman’s associations serve up their most celebrated seafood dishes and cafe-style seating is set up throughout the Wharf.

Our jam-packed live music schedule includes folk, Celtic, sea shanties, and blues music so bring your dancing shoes, because these b ands promise to get your feet moving! View a full schedule on our events page.

We look forward to seeing you this Fall on Bowen’s Wharf!
