Bacardi Sailing Week: Art, parties and heritage tours

Fluke Restaurant (shown above) is now open for lunch on weekends. Father’s Day idea: be sure to step up to their third-floor bar overlooking the water. During Bacardi Sailing Week order up a “Cuban Storm“, specialty cocktail and on the ground explore the wharf-wide photographic exhibit, Sailing Dreams, Bowen’s Wharf invites you to the release of a new paperback: Newport – A Lively Experiment! Wednesday, July 1, 5:00-6:30 pm join us in our newly renovated Pilot House (45 America’s Cup Avenue). Released exclusively in Newport County, (before worldwide distribution) this portable edition is authored by Rockwell Stensrud, a long-time summer resident and designed by Trixie B. Wadson, marketing director at Bowen’s Wharf Company.

Book sales benefit the Redwood Library & Athenaeum, the oldest lending library in the U.S., just minutes up the road from the waterfront. This summer marks a new partnership with the Redwood in heritage tourism. A visit to our Pilot House offers access to numerous cultural gems in the city and we’ll feature new partnerships in the coming weeks. To purchase tickets for the current exhibit at the Redwood or to buy the catalogue, Marine Paintings by John Mecray, call or visit the Pilot House, 849-3478. Makes a wonderful Father’s Day present.

Another authentic and unique experience available through the Pilot House at Bowen’s Wharf is Live the Legacy: 12 Meter Charters together with a visit to Doris Duke’s Rough Point mansion. An unforgettable, exhilirating experience awaits you on an authentic and well-restored America’s Cup Yacht and an immersive tour of the mansion/museum and gardens where Bellevue Avenue meets Ocean Drive.
